Alcohol withdrawal can cause seizures, hallucinations, and delirium tremens (DTs) — which can be fatal without medical management. Opioid withdrawal, while rarely fatal itself, is intensely uncomfortable and is the primary reason patients relapse before completing treatment. Benzodiazepine withdrawal is similarly dangerous. Our medical detox program addresses all these scenarios with individualized, evidence-based protocols.

Our medical detox program begins with a comprehensive intake assessment covering medical history, substance use history, vital signs, and current physical and mental state. This assessment informs the individualized detox protocol developed by our Addiction Medicine Specialist.

Patients are monitored continuously during detox — vital signs, neurological status, hydration, nutrition, and psychological state are assessed multiple times daily. Medications are administered as needed to manage withdrawal symptoms, prevent complications, and maximize comfort. IV hydration and nutritional support are provided where necessary.

Throughout detox, our counsellors are present to provide psychological support, psychoeducation, and motivation. Many patients feel at their most vulnerable during detox — our team's compassion and presence helps them through this challenging phase. Detox typically takes 7–14 days, followed by seamless transition into the rehabilitation program.
